Let’s keep your 2026 reset on-trend.
It’s January, aka closet clean out season!
As you kick off the new year with a wardrobe refresh, our stylists have put together a helpful guide on what’s in & what’s out.
Scroll through for our expert opinion on what pieces to keep and what to cut.

GREENS
✔️KEEP: NATURAL GREENS
CANDACE’S TAKE:
We love to see the evolution of colors. Colors are such a clear indicator for where we are for the fashion moment! It’s a part of the fashion zeitgeist if you will.
While colors remain rich and bold, we are seeing a fresh take on greens. Rather than those highly saturated jewel tone greens, we are embracing the beauty of NATURAL GREENS and varying hues of green that surround them.
The beauty of these various shades of green is how extremely versatile and multifaceted they are in the wardrobe. They have the opportunity to act as both a neutral or a little dose of color pop!

✖️CUT: JEWEL TONES

DENIM
✔️KEEP: MEDIUM TO DARK WASH
WHITNEY’S TAKE:
Clean, medium to dark wash denim is having a moment — and for good reason. These washes feel easy yet polished, which makes them incredibly wearable day to day.
We love a pair like Le Slim Palazzo from Frame because they blend seamlessly into your wardrobe, working just as well with cozy knits as they do with tailored blazers and blouses.

✖️CUT: DESTRUCTED OR OVERLY EMBELISHED
We’re gently encouraging clients to move away from heavily distressed or embellished denim. While they’ve had their moment, these styles can feel limiting and overly casual, making outfits harder to elevate. Clean denim offers more flexibility and longevity in the wardrobe.
Remember, this isn’t about rules or trends — it’s about making space for pieces that support you and simplify getting dressed. If your denim works with more of your closet, it’s doing its job.

RUGGED REFINED
✔️KEEP: ELEVATED VESTS
BEN’S TAKE:
I love a good vest, as it can really add to a look, especially when you don’t want to do a full jacket or sport coat.
I see a lot of active-style or work-branded vests in men’s closets that they pair back to a button down shirt, sweater, and nice jeans or 5 pocket pants for date nights or casual events. Instead, I always encourage a more elevated style of vest with no branding and good fabrics like wool, suede, or flannel, like this one from Hugo Boss:

SHOP THE HUGO BOSS FLANNEL VEST WITH RIBBED EDGES
If you like the “puffer” look, then go for a mixed media style like this one from Reiss, where the puffer is only on the front. The back is a sweater material that keeps the vest elevated from a more “active” style.

✖️CUT: HEAVILY-BRANDED, ATHLEISURE VESTS
Avoid lower-grade fabrics and overly embellished branding for a more elevated approached.
