Fashioning a Future of Hope For Survivors

Impact Is Always In Style.

At Wardrobe Therapy, our passion is helping people express confidence and strength through personal style.

But, it’s important to recognize that empowerment goes beyond what we wear. It starts with having the safety, support, and opportunities to thrive in life.

That’s why we’re using our platform for good on this week’s blog to spotlight the life-changing work of The Salvation Army in Central Ohio, whose mission to help survivors of human trafficking reclaim their lives is dear to our Partner Katie’s heart.

Learn how to spot the signs & share resources. Plus, get your free tickets to Katie’s private screening of HOPE: Stories of Survival.

A Mission That Hits Home

The Salvation Army’s mission expanded to Central Ohio in 2007, when community leaders joined forces to create a coordinated response to help our survivor neighbors heal and rebuild their lives.

The organization serves over 550 survivors on average annually with emergency response, long-term support, weekly outreach, and a 24/7 human trafficking hotline across 14 counties.

In 2024, The Salvation Army partnered to open Harriet’s Hope, a multi-family facility with 52 units built to providing survivors with a safe space to live and receive essential support.

For many, this is the first key they’ve ever held to their own home, a sanctuary where they can focus on healing, independence, and building a future.

“Every day, I am inspired by the courage and resilience shown by the survivors we serve,” shares Michelle, the organization’s Anti-Human Trafficking Program Director.

The smallest stitches can tell a story beyond the surface.

Human trafficking often hides right out in the open, with many victims not recognizing their situation for what it is due to manipulation and control.

Here are some potential signs to be aware of.

If you suspect someone is being trafficked, do not attempt to intervene directly – it could put both you and the survivor in danger.
