How To Transition Your Summer Pieces Into Fall

August is rapidly coming to a close, which means one thing and one thing only…FALL FASHION. While fall fashion is definitely in the air, the actual transition to wearing all the lovely fall layers can definitely be a bit slower. Gotta love this midwest weather. Despite the atmospheric shift, there’s no reason why we can’t add a touch of fall to our summer looks. In fact, we fully encourage it! Transitioning your favorite summer looks into fall is not only purposeful, but it shows true fashionista savvy. When it comes to adding a dose of fall to your summer ensembles, it’s all about the right textures and lightly layering! To be a bit more specific, gently layering in your ankle boots, jackets, denim and sweaters/scarves is definitely the way to go. Incorporating these pieces into your late summer line up is a great way to add a layer of dimension to your early fall looks! To get your style wheels turning, today we are showing you a few summer looks from the blog that we have transitioned over into fall!

  1. BB Dakota Shirt Dress |2. Madewell Pullover Sweater | 3. Vince Camuto Movinta Ankle Bootie  | 4. Gucci Tophandle Bag 5. BaubleBar Hoop Earrings | 6. Maison Margiela Cuff

Remember this dress from our go-to summer outfits? To give this sweet little dress a dose of fall style, layering a fun pullover sweater gives it just the right seasonal texture to be fall appropriate. To strengthen this transitional look, this chic little western inspired ankle bootie by Vince Camuto does the trick. With logo everything being all the rave for Fall 2018, adding a logo handbag is yet another way to incorporate a subtle dose of Fall character to this summer dress!

P.S. Not feeling the pull-over sweater? You can easily swap this piece for a slightly chunky open front cardigan or a suede moto jacket. Again, it’s all about texture!

  1. Mural Houndstooth Blazer | 2. 1901 Crop Pant | 3. Commando Sleeveless Turtleneck | 4. Rebecca Minkoff Keith Bag | 5. Paul Green Sabrina Bootie  | 6. Gorjana Hinged Bangle Set  | 7. Ted Baker London Neck Scarf

Looking to give your go-to summer work outfit some fall flare? Add a jacket! That jacket can be a moto, blazer or whatever suits your fancy! Last week in our trend report, we shared that menswear for the gals is pretty major. Taking this cotton crop pant and pairing it with this houndstooth jacket instantly creates a fall-esque vibe. You can finish off this look by sticking with your go-to white summer v-neck or transitioning over to a sleeveless mock neck! Oh yes, a floral scarf with houndstooth print? YES! Mixing and matching seasonal prints. Not to mention, floral prints are trending for Fall! Depending on how boldly you want to approach incorporating the floral, you can wear the scarf at your neck, as a belt or even tied on your handbag!

1 Everlane V-Neck Dress | 2. Madewell Colorblock Scarf | 3. Treasure and Bond Loop Leather Belt | 4. Madewell High Rise Denim |  5. Steven Madden Pointy Pump | 6. BaubleBar Santos Hoop Earrings

When it comes to early Fall shopping, there’s something majorly exciting about picking up a new pair of jeans! Rather than reaching for your usual favorite summer blouse to pair with them, reach for that tunic dress you’ve been wearing all summer. Create the perfect transitional look, by layering your dress over your denim. To further enhance this transitional look, layer a scarf! Love this lightweight colorblock option from Madewell! To ensure that you have defined your waist, reach for a belt. Adding a leather belt is yet another way to add texture to your look! Finish off the look with your favorite pump or heeled sandal and your favorite summer earrings. Heck, you can even grab your favorite basket handbag!

Achieving that perfect summer >> fall transitional style is all about layering in and balancing the right elements! Give it a whirl. And speaking of Fall Fashion, next Thursday we are hosting a fun event and would love to see YOU there! All the details can be found HERE.
