BROOKE

IN BROOKE’S WORDS

The inspiration for this look comes from the gender-neutral runway shows we’re seeing right now, where unique layering and unexpected combinations are redefining modern dressing.

Start with a long lace top as the base so the delicate hem peeks out beneath an oversized cashmere sweater, adding a feminine detail to an otherwise relaxed silhouette.

Pair the layers with tailored, wide-leg trousers to lean into the outfit’s traditionally masculine feel, and finish with mesh flats for a playful and trendy touch.

BROOKE’S LAYERING TIP: DON’T FORGET TO ACCESSORIZE

Accessories are your friend when it comes to adding that final “layer” to any outfit. For example, let’s look at this outfit: Minimal accessories like a sculptural pendant necklace and a structured silver shoulder bag keep the look refined while allowing the contrast between masculine tailoring and feminine lace to remain the focus.

WHITNEY

IN WHITNEY’S WORDS

Layering was one of the standout themes across the Spring runways this year, which is why our team highlighted it as a key trend in our latest Trend Report. Rather than heavy winter layering, this season’s approach is lighter, more intentional, and designed to create dimension within an outfit.

This look is built around that modern approach to layering — polished but still relaxed. A crisp white tee under a soft pink button-down creates a fresh, light foundation, while the olive coat adds structure and depth.

Draping a knit wrap over the coat introduces texture and warmth, and the grey trouser paired with burgundy sling backs grounds the palette with a rich, modern finish.

WHITNEY’S LAYERING TIP: COMBINE INTENTIONALLY

When layering, think in terms of contrast and intention. Combine pieces with different weights and textures — like cotton, knit, and leather — so each layer has a purpose rather than simply adding bulk. Great style often comes down to thoughtful combinations rather than more clothing.

BRITT

IN BRITT’S WORDS

The layering on the runways this season came to us with no rules attached. Mix lengths, fabrications, accessories, you name it — it layers well.

And while we’ve seen the quiet luxury sweaters thrown over the shoulder look (which isn’t going anywhere, by the way), let’s not forget the classic sweater tied around the waist.

What’s great about this detail is that it can act as a belt of sorts to define the waist, but with a total cool girl flair. Here, this sweater serves no other purpose than to add some fun texture and color.

Layer on a barn jacket (scrunch the sleeves of course!) for another unexpected detail paired back to a slip dress.

BRITT’S LAYERING TIP: STAY TRUE TO YOU (& YOUR SILHOUETTE)

When it comes to layering, it’s important to ensure that we don’t lose sight of the silhouette, but also that it feels like you. Just because something works well for one person, doesn’t mean it feels like your own personal style, even if it is a classic. This season is an opportunity to have a little fun and color outside the lines!

BEN

IN BEN’S WORDS

This spring, the runways leaned into a familiar character: the “guy next door,” refreshed with a touch of prep and classic layering. Think of him as relatable, modern Americana.

To interpret this trend for our clients, I’d focus on the classic look of layering with an oxford shirt and thin, lightweight sweater for that spring transitional vibe. Paired with lighter-washed jeans and an elevated, well-tailored chore coat (which seems to keep having its moment), this look would be topped off perfectly.

Don’t forget the low-profile sneaker, like this one from Magnanni! Or if he’s feeling a bit bolder and would lean into a preppier side of the trend, substitute a tie for the sweater.

BEN’S MEN’S TIP FOR MAKING IT MODERN: TIE IT TOGETHER

Ties had a strong showing on the runways again this year and I am here for it! They are the perfect accessory to easily add color and texture to the look. The moral of the story? The guy next door just got a serious style upgrade.
