Summer Athleisure by Body Shape

Summer Day Chic is no longer just a t-shirt and shorts! Our active, on-the-go clients want to feel good AND look great while doing all things SUMMER! We understand it can be difficult to find an outfit that is equal parts comfortable and chic for these hot summer days. Our expert team of stylists are here to show you that, with the right pieces and styling, you can look and feel your best, no matter your shape or size!

An apple shape is defined as carrying the most weight in the midsection. Because of this, this shape often struggles to have a defined waist. We recommend opening the neckline, defining the shoulder, and adding details and volume on the bottom. This dress is perfect for the gal who needs structure but would like to camouflage a bit of her middle. It’s not clingy, giving a bit of movement away from the middle. Add a lightweight jacket with a clean shoulder for a bit more coverage!

The rectangular body shape is characterized by the bust and waist being the same width. This romper is perfect for defining the waist without any discomfort. It’s chic, breathable, and moves with your body seamlessly. We love it paired back to a fun sandal and a textured bag for a versatile and chic summer look!

Inverted triangle

An inverted triangle body shape is best defined as the shoulders and/or chest being the widest part of the body. This active polo from Spanx tucked into their high-waisted shorts will draw the eye up and down the body, giving the appearance of a long and lean figure. Pair this sporty look with a crossbody bag and a fun sneaker, and you’ll be ready for any workout… or coffee date!

The triangle silhouette (or pear shape) is defined as the hips and thighs being the widest parts of the body. To balance out proportions, we suggest keeping prints/color and volume on top. This high-waisted pant from Athleta is made of ultra-flattering, breathable stretch fabric that won’t give you those annoying puckering pockets. These pants can be dressed down for an early morning walk or dressed up with a fabulous sun hat and colorful tee for those days when you want to look put together but don’t want to compromise comfort.

The hourglass shape is characterized by similar widths of the shoulders and hips while having a naturally defined waist. We are still loving a monochromatic moment especially when it comes to activewear. If you’re looking to add that extra bit of style to your activewear set, try draping a knit over your shoulder! This will give you that elevated look of style while also keeping you cool during these warmer seasons.
