Get to know our Marketing girl, McKenna!
It’s time for you to get acquainted with the person capturing the magic moments that are made here at Wardrobe Therapy.
We are so excited for you to learn more about one of the new additions to our team: Our Marketing Manager, McKenna Brooks!
Equal parts storyteller and style enthusiast, McKenna is the force behind many of the visual narratives you see across our social media pages.
Step behind-the-scenes with us as we get to know about what makes her the matcha-sipping, pet-loving lady she is.
Plus, enjoy some snaps of her life in front of the camera instead of behind it for a change!
Her Story: From Start to Our Styling Firm
Driven by an enthusiasm for curating creativity into creations, McKenna first started editing and writing content when she was only nine years old with her flip camcorder, Mattel password journal, and whatever online graphic design tools she could find. She took that long-standing passion and turned it into her profession.
After moving around throughout the south and mid-west, McKenna returned to her home state to attend college at the University of Cincinnati, where she studied Communication, PR, and English and was awarded the school’s Jean Chimsky Prize in 2020.
McKenna has spent the past 7+ years building her career in digital media marketing, including prior roles in social media management for various retailers and marketing management in the non-profit sector. Since moving up to Columbus to join Wardrobe Therapy, she’s shared that she loves getting to combine her drive for creative communications and visual storytelling with our audience of fashion lovers.
When she’s not running around recording our stylists and fabulous clients, you can find McKenna dividing her time between her diva pom-chi, Eevie, her chaotic tabby, Auggie, and sampling matcha lattes as she writes at local coffee shops.
Q&A Session:
Asked and Answered
Q: What is your style philosophy?
A: Fashion is for everyone! Express yourself in a way that feels authentically you.
Q: Who are your style icons?
A: Princess Diana, Suki Waterhouse, Harry Styles, and Dakota Johnson during press tours.
Q: What are your favorite labels?
A: Reformation!
Q: What is the most meaningful item in your wardrobe?
A: My late sister Mary’s distressed cadet hat, which was the staple of her wardrobe.
Also, my mother’s wedding shoes! I used to sneak into her closet to try them on as a little girl – they were one of the first pieces that made me appreciate the sentimentality of apparel.
Q: Your favorite denim?
A: Recently. I’ve been loving my Madewells!
Q: Your biggest splurge?
A: My Louis Vuitton Neverfull MM! Got her on vacation in Las Vegas (something about shopping on the strip makes everything better).
I just love its classic timelessness + the versatility with its side straps to transform it between a tote and hobo shape.
Q: Your greatest steal?
A: Recently I got this AMAZING trench coat from Thread during their Tent Sale that I’m obsessed with for 95% off!
You best believe I’m going to be living in it all fall long.
Q: What band do you wish you met backstage?
A: I listen to more artists vs. bands, so I’d say Taylor Swift!
Got to see her front row during the Eras Tour so will take that as a partial win. Honorable mentions for Noah Kahan, Holly Humberstone, and Charlotte Lawrence.
Q: What is your favorite food to make?
A: Homemade vodka sauce rigatoni or a zesty Italian chicken pasta.
Q: What is your perfect Saturday like?
A: Slow start brunch at home while lounging with my cat before hitting the park for the afternoon with my dog.
Then, spending the evening with friends over dinner at a restaurant downtown – love trying new spots and discovering secret gems.
Finally, I would end the night by snuggling into bed and working on my book.
Q: Words to live by?
A: Simply surviving is never enough.
Q: What philanthropies are close to your heart?
A: Ele’s Place – they do pivotal work in the underserved children’s grief services space.
Q: Your life in a hashtag?
A: #dogandcatmom
Q: When you’re not thinking fashion, you’re…
A: Writing my book, spending time with family and friends, hanging with the fur-babies, or exploring new restaurants, coffee shops, or boutiques!
