Don’t Fall Behind: These Are The Neckline Trends Changing The Game This Season

A fun fashion fact for you: the neckline does more for your look than you realize!! From the raise of a high neck down to a wide open collar, these elements can totally transform your silhouette, shape, and balance.

With the “neckline effect” being a core trend this fall/winter, our stylists are breaking down four neckline sub-trends & how to style them.

THE “FUNNEL NECK” EFFECT

Our stylist, Christine, weighs in on the “funnel neck” sub-trend.

The “effect” it creates:

Not to be dramatic, but I’m a huge fan of the funnel neck trend, and I hope it lasts forever!!!  I love how it creates a sharp, architectural silhouette that frames your face and elevates any casual outfit.

How Christine styles it:

For a day of running errands or meeting your friends for lunch, this Lioness Shoreline Funnel Neck jacket is a perfect way to elevate a slouchy pair of denim and sneakers.

THE “DRAPE NECK” EFFECT

Our Lead Stylist, Whitney, weighs in on the “drape neck” sub-trend.

The “effect” it creates:

The draped neckline is one of our favorite ways to bring softness and movement into a look, and this silhouette does all the work for you.

How Whitney styles it:

For this look we balanced the fluidity of the top with structured barrel denim, then finished the look with sleek ivory croc mules and a coordinating clutch for a polished contrast. The result feels effortless but intentional

THE “NECK TIE” EFFECT

Our stylist, Whit, weighs in on the “neck tie” sub-trend.

The “effect” it creates:

Womenswear often “borrows from the boys,” and I love that neckties are trending once again! This accessory works well because it creates elongating, vertical lines and accentuates the neckline much like jewelry.

How Whit styles it:

Style this structured accessory alongside clothing that flatters and defines your natural silhouette, like a great skirt, a fitted shirt and a statement heel. If you’re just dipping your toe into this accessory, stick to solid, matching colors, or pull a twilly scarf for a similar but more feminine touch!

THE “OPEN NECKLINE” EFFECT

Our Women’s Style Director, Candace, weighs in on the “open neckline” sub-trend.

The “effect” it creates:

One thing is for sure…we LOVE an open collar neckline. Not only does it look timeless and cool, but it also serves a purpose in creating overall balance in a look on nearly every silhouette. An open neckline can aid in bringing definition back to the waist line by drawing the eye down the body and back up!

How Candace styles it:

Currently loving this elevated button down by Reformation, which is a fresh take on the white woven. Depending on your preference, you can wear this nice and open so it really frames the face or style it more simply to create the same effect. As we move into sweater weather, another great option would be this rolled open-neck sweater, also by Reformation. You can wear it stand alone or layered! Again, same effect.
