The “Leading Lady” trend stylistically explores the intersection between femininity and power dressing. Embracing this concept comes down to key details: the styling, the combinations, the textures, and the accessories.
Let our stylists guide you on how to make this trend your own:
Scroll on as Elizabeth, Candace, Britt, & Brooke explore how to dress like the Leading Lady you know you are!
THE TWEED LADY
Our stylist, Britt, weighs in on reaching for tweed, a go-to fabric for this trend.

How Britt would pull in tweed for a “Leading Lady” look:
While tweed is a classic staple in any leading lady’s wardrobe, this season we’re seeing it in fresh silhouettes that highlight the feminine shape.
This jacket is nipped in at the waist and features a tulip hem with beautiful button details. Pair it with an unexpected wide leg leather pant to give it a little edge and keep it from feeling predictably stuffy, though denim would be great as well.
The accessories are equally as important to balance the look — I love the smooth bold earring to counter the texture of the jacket around the face, but added a little texture back in with the shoe.
THE ACCESSORIZED LADY
Our founder, Elizabeth, weighs in on accessorizing this trend.

How Elizabeth would accessorize for a “Leading Lady” look:
A beautiful silk scarf and accessorizing older pins or brooches are a wonderful way to style for the Fall season! This Hermes scarf has a beautiful, classic print and a punch of orange/red. So chic.
I love adding a brooch to either the scarf or the sweater for a styling boost. Perfect for a monochromatic brown moment in both the top and bottom, even the shoes!
Add a blazer if a third piece is needed!
THE BROCADE LADY
Our stylist, Brooke, weighs in on pulling in a fall favorite texture, brocade, for this trend.

How Brooke would pull in brocade for a “Leading Lady” look:
Brocade is a rich, decorative fabric with patterns woven right into the cloth, often featuring shimmering metallic threads.
This fall, it’s the texture of the season, appearing on the Dior, Chanel, Dries Van Noten and Saint Laurent runways as minimalism finally takes a back seat.
Brocade jackets and skirts are topping everyone’s must-buy list because a single piece instantly makes simple basics feel special.
My rule: choose one brocade statement, like a jacket with straight-leg jeans and a cozy knit, and let it do all the talking.
THE POWER SUITED LADY
Our Women’s Style Director, Candace, weighs in on how to power suit for this trend.

How Candace would style a power suit look:
And power suiting is BACK. Over the last several years, we have seen a more relaxed approach to suiting, featuring relaxed trousers and oversized blazers.
While that relaxed approach still remains, we have loved seeing designers reimagine suiting that is structured, elegant, timeless and altogether ladylike!
This jacket and skirt combo from Smythe embodies that fresh take. Love that the these two pieces can be worn together to create a power suiting look or worn separately!
To complete the look, I added a few rich chocolate/burgundy hues to create more of an autumnal vibe!
