NEW YORK FASHION WEEK: Inspired Looks for Fall 2023

New York Fashion Week is the pinnacle of fashion inspiration. We were truly in awe of the direction designers took this year. It felt fresh and inventive! From the rich color to the oversized statement pieces, this year’s NYFW gave so much to be inspired by.

I noticed many trends that were in multiple shows. The one I loved the most is the use of Chocolate Brown. From suiting to chunky knit dresses to leather pieces (head to toe). So chic.
I also loved all the fringe (that is also everywhere for Spring 2023) … it feels fresh and fabulous! I must note that the Michael Kors Collection show was AMAZING!! A must-see for all fashion lovers!

One of the trends that stood out to me was the oversized, statement jewelry. Everything including necklaces from Michael Kors, to earrings from Alaia and LaQuan Smith, to my personal favorite bracelets from Brandon Maxwell.
Coats are always in the forefront of the Fall runways and one of the overall themes I observed was the oversized.  I felt most inspired by the color and prints from Ulla Johnson and Cinq a Sept. Khaite also showed the oversized coat but with amazing structure and texture.

We saw red…no pun intended! Many designers, at least 12, had “elmo red” show up all over the runways, and its being pleasantly accepted as the replacer of the Barbie pink from last year.

We are still seeing the prominent shoulder this season, but a standout on runways was a softer “draped” shoulder as it’s being described, which is a nice juxtaposition to what we’ve been seeing for multiple seasons. This look feels fresh, and depending on how it’s done can actually create a very flattering silhouette and layering technique for Fall. A nice change up to the strong shoulder.
