TRENDING NOW: NYFW Recap

New York Fashion Week, the bread and butter of American fashion. On July 19, 1943, the first-ever fashion week was held in New York City. The purpose of this event was to give fashion buyers an alternative to buying from French designers. It has now grown into one of the most iconic weeks in fashion. You can’t help but feel inspired by these Fashion Week events, design limits are pushed, “rules” are broken and high fashion feels accessible. Here are a few of our favorite shows from this year’s Spring ’24 NYFW.

The Brandon Maxwell show was my favorite.  I loved the juxtaposition of the show: the formal blazers paired with the distressed denim, and the flowy sheer fabrics with the metallic accents on the handbags, belts, and accessories.  I also loved the frayed hems, a delicate detail that packs a punch. The one piece that caught my eye was the leather jacket with the double zipper.

I LOVED Ralph Lauren’s entire Spring Collection. The styling details are what I loved most!! Belts, necklaces, tucks, sleeve details, and the mixing of fabrications. It was all so chic. I had to pause several times and make sure I was still viewing Ralph Lauren.

Throughout NYFW we saw a lot of cool pastels in lilacs and icy blues, as well as yellow and utility green. I am also loving the continuation of the major metallic moment, particularly in Carolina Herrera’s collection, paired back to the lilac accessories, along with luxe browns in classic silhouettes. The polka dots à la Pretty Woman, though, were certainly not a “big mistake” in my opinion.

Two things I love- a great blazer and GOLD. I’m so happy to see them both being styled into Spring! We’re used to seeing blazers in the Fall and Winter, but as we saw in Altuzarra’s Spring Collection (as well as Tibi, Staud, and Ralph Lauren, to name a few ), this look can easily be styled in the Spring; designers using different lengths to give us more versatility. Metallic gold speaks for itself and whether it’s worn as an accessory or a piece of clothing, subtle or more bold-gold always makes a statement. It’s never gone out of style for me, but if you’ve removed it from your wardrobe, it’s time to bring it back!

I was inspired by the chic toughness of the Khaite show this season. They had a mixture of feminine flowy and rich tailoring perfect for Spring. I also loved seeing the freshness of white and red during the shows!

I found myself very inspired by the Michael Kors runway show. The collection is full of neutral-colored beauties that could truly live for seasons to come. I also enjoyed the splash of resort-esque pieces that were infused throughout the collection too. It appears that there has been some fresh life and inspiration breathed into the brand and I am here for it!
