DRESS TO IMPRESS: Denim Love: What jeans to buy and how to wear them best

Despite the changes we see in trends from season to season there’s one outfit staple we can always agree is important and that’s denim! But if you have been paying attention, you may have noticed that jeans have had a bit of a facelift over the course of the last few seasons; not that the skinny and flare styles are “out”, they’ve just been upstaged for the moment. Read on to find out the silhouettes we are loving right now, and how we suggest you style them for Fall!

Straight Leg Denim

1 AGOLDE Remy Straight Leg Jean | 2 Madewell Straight Leg Jean  | 3 White + Warren Cashmere Turtleneck | 4 Isabel Marant Python Belt | 5 Sam Edelman Wiona Bootie

The NEW skinny. Don’t get us wrong…the skinny denim will always be around…however, the straight leg has hit the scene and it’s not just a trend. We love that it still creates a long, lean silhouette of the leg. We suggest pairing with a yummy sweater like this hazelnut number. To emphasize the waist, try doing a half tuck in front, then pairing with a great printed belt…the perfect daytime casual look!

Baggy/Wide Leg Denim

1 Moussy Vintage Denim | 2 Toteme Flair Cropped Denim | 3  ATM T-shirt  | 4 Derek Lam 10 Crosby Blazer| 5 Zara Squared Heels

The wide leg revival rejoins us straight from the 90s era. We love this as a trend, but make sure you are pairing with a tailored top/jacket and sleek shoes so you don’t lose your shape. We love the ease of a crisp white tee, tucked in front, then adding a great plaid blazer and strappy heels for happy hour in the Short North. By the way, this is a great style for someone with more of a triangle shape…the wider leg offsets the hips!

High-waist Denim

If you haven’t heard, we love the 70s Trend (wink wink) and this leg shape is a nod to this season’s favorite look. The look is refined, with a bow blouse and great statement coat…great for a business casual day at the office, or a chic dinner on a chilly evening. This look and denim style is a great one for an hourglass or rectangle as it emphasizes the waist and adds flattering curves to the silhouette.
