Team Insider: Spring Trends Breakdown, Part 3

We hope everyone is continuing to find moments of optimism and joy in these trying times. We cannot wait to get back to better and brighter days. We truly believe we will all get through this soon and look back on this period as one that challenged us so greatly, yet bonded us together in ways we would have never expected. But for now, we’re back here again to bring some fashion brightness to your week! So without further ado, next up on our Spring Trend report (if you missed it, you can find the original newsletter here) are Bermuda Shorts and Suiting pieces!

1 Athleta Ultimate Stash Pocket Short |2 J. Crew High Rise Bermuda Short  | 3 J. Brand Bermuda Short

I’m living in workout bottoms at the moment, and I have to purchase these to keep my flow once warm weather is here! The ultra high waist is so nice (makes the waistline trim), but most importantly, I love the cell-phone pocket detail on the side! So handy! I can wear these with my sporty sneakers and workout tops or with a graphic tee, denim jacket and my P448 Sneakers! The high waist and side zipper on #2 is so chic and practical for the gal who needs to make sure her hips aren’t appearing wider when going for that fuller-leg bermuda. There’s an added pocket which also helps! The last pair, I love! The high waist is right, and the skinny leg makes this feel updated and chic. Definitely good for the woman who doesn’t want to make her legs appear larger! These are easy to pair with a jacket (shown) or with a blouse tucked in! They can go casual as well! Just pair with with an easy t-shirt and cardigan.

1 Alice & Olivia Denny Blazer | 2 Alice & Oliva Dylan High Waist Pant

I love this long and lean blazer, it’s so great with a straight bottom or with high-waisted denim. And the pant…it looks fantastic with the blazer, creating a major fashion moment, but I would wear them solo too!

1 Gap High Rise Destructed Denim Short |2 Onzie High Rise Leopard Short | 3 STAUD Noah Shorts

If there is one trend to stand behind during this pandemic it’s by far the bermuda short! I’m loving all of the denim bermuda shorts I’m seeing. They feel so cool and relaxed, but I’m excited to dress them up a bit later this Summer too! These are great for the budget and look just like the higher designer options we’re seeing! I found these leopard bike shorts late last Summer and guess what!?–they’re available again from Bergdorf’s! I’ll wear them NOW with a long sweatshirt or tee for that volume vs. trim effect, but they are so fun to dress up with a blazer for an edgy evening look for later. And the blue beauties?! The color, the fit, the fabrication…triple threat! I would go neutral on top in white or even blush. Topped with a square-toe sandal and I’ll be ready for the first post-quarantine outing that’s thrown my way!

1 Smythe Blazer | 2  The Fifth Label Light Year Top

This pink blazer may be my new favorite find-wow! The illusion of the double breast helps keep it’s shape, but still upkeeps the double-breasted “oversize” aesthetic. I’ll dress it up with a neutral silk cami and denim for work…or maybe layer it over a slim-fitting hoodie now for a Zoom call for that casual meets tailored look! As for the tee, it’s an example of that suiting-like piece. I love the pinstripes here, they feel reminiscent of the pinstripe suit, but as a tee I can dress this down! Once I’m ready to get out there again, these will work well under a white blazer and carry into the fall under a true classic suit for a cool casual/dressy juxtaposition.

1 Levi’s 501 Denim Shorts |2 Vernoica Beard Culotte| 3 & Other Stories Pleated Shorts

I can’t wait to pair these white distressed denim cut-offs with a tailored button down, thick gold chain necklace and chunky mules! And remember these leather bermudas from last week? We loved them so much we wanted to show them twice! Leather shorts may sound risque, but this sophisticated bermuda length makes them utterly chic! The paper bag waist shorts are great for the gal who has a curvy figure and wants to show that off. They accentuate a smaller waistline and offer comfort with a roomier fit thru the hips and thighs.

1 Lafayette 148 Dalton Stripe Pant | 2 Kourt Fern Blazer

Once things return to normal, these chic wide leg pants can go easily from the office to a dressy evening event! And I am loving this double breasted denim blazer! I can throw it on with a tee and dark jeans or layer over a pretty, ruffled dress.

1 Spanx Faux Leather Biker Shorts |2 REMAIN Leather | 3 DL 1961 Clara Bermuda Shorts

My long legs are warmly welcoming the bermuda short trend! Length tends to be an issue for me, so I am beyond jazzed to have a variety of length options to choose from with the bermuda short now readily available. For casual, I’ve been loving these faux biker shorts that I picked up from Ladybird. Pairing with an oversized tee or sweater and sneakers of course! For denim bermuda shorts, I am particularly excited to order this light wash by DL 1961! Love the hem detail and how they narrow in at the knee. And lastly, a leather bermuda short..sooo good. Love this deeper hue as I can wear it now and later this Fa

1 Stella McCartney High Waist Crop Pant | 2  BB Dakota Belted Blazer

Suiting is back and stronger than ever! Truly a lot of unique possibilities with a touch of 70s flare. For me, I love creating my own suit! These cropped high waisted pants by Stella McCartney are perfect and in my signature color. I can pair this jacket with these pants for a pulled-together dressy look. And I can also wear them casually as separates. This pant with an Anine Bing graphic tee and Golden Goose! Or this jacket worn open with the denim berumuda short from above, an easy sandal and a solid white tee tucked in. LOVE!
