THE FULL SLEEVE

Styled by Whitney

IN HER WORDS:

We saw volume all over the Spring runway this year, and it’s made its way into stores this season, much to our delight!

What better way to embrace it than with this red silk jacket from Adam Lippes. The key is to wear it zipped, allowing the sculptural sleeves to take center stage while subtly defining the waist and balancing the overall silhouette.

Finish off with a simple khaki pant and black ballet flats for an expected shoe to ground the look.

WHITNEY’S VOLUME STYLING TIP:

When adding volume to an outfit, I tell my clients “choose your big.” Which just means choose one area we add volume and then we add balance to the rest of the look.

You can play with volume no matter your shape or size! It’s all about balance and playing with proportions.

THE ASYMMETRICAL SKIRT

Styled by Britt

IN HER WORDS:

The draping and asymmetric details of this skirt make it perfect for adding a little volume, but not overwhelming your frame.

Paired with this boxy utility jacket (bonus points for hitting another of our key trends!), and zipped up as the top, we’re allowing for this fun detail in the skirt to take center stage in creating the shape.

While keeping to monochromatic vibes with the shoes and bag, opting for bold jewelry helps to maximize on the volume trend.

BRITT’S VOLUME STYLING TIP:

Volume comes down to balance. It can be fun to play with and create new ideas in very classic pieces.

The trick, with the help of a seasoned stylist, is to not lose sight of silhouette.

We’ll evaluate how we can accentuate certain features, or do we need to tailor a bit for a petite frame, etc. This is where your stylist can really work their magic!

THE BALLOON PANT

Styled by Christine

IN HER WORDS:

The balloon pant (aka genie or harem pant) is staging a major revival this Spring and Summer and I’m all about it! It’s defined by voluminous hips and thighs with a tapered ankle and is a great alternative to wide-leg pants.

This Velvet Brooks Low Rise pant by Graham & Spencer is a great way to ease into this trend as they’re not too overpowering. They can be dressed up with heels or worn more casually with flats or even sneakers.

I’ve paired them with a simple fitted white VB top and black slingback heeled sandals for the perfect happy hour vibe.

CHRISTINE’S VOLUME STYLING TIP:

Due to the volume of the pant, pair with fitted tops, tucked in shirts, or crop tops to balance the silhouette.

UNINTENTIONAL SUITING

DRESSED UP TO DRESSED DOWN

Styled by Ben

IN HIS WORDS:

A fresh new take on the traditional suit was highly visible on the spring runways this year.

Call it a “matching set” or even “unintentional suiting”; the appeal is clear:

Softer tailoring, built-in versatility, and just the right amount of fashion to keep things interesting without trying too hard.

This Todd Snyder set is one of our favorite interpretations.

You can dress it up by pairing it with a knit polo and loafers for a creative office look.

Or, dial it down with an elevated tee and clean sneakers for a more relaxed but still intentional look.

BEN’S UNINTENTIONAL SUITING STYLING TIP:

We’re seeing these coordinated sets show up in a range of silhouettes from bomber jackets and chore coats to longer, trench-style layers.

The key is choosing the version that works for your shape and lifestyle, and then having a little fun with it!
